Arian Salimi, a taekwondo athlete from Kermanshahi on the Iranian national team, won the gold medal in the 80 kg weight category at the Nagoya 2026 Asian Games by defeating competitors from China, Jordan, and Uzbekistan.

Hadi Saei, President of the Iranian Taekwondo Federation, said: "I am very happy that we were able to win the first Iranian women's gold medal in the Asian Games."

The 2026 Asian champion also managed to win the gold medal at the Asian Games, closing the taekwondo record in these games with three golds and one bronze.
