The management of Guatemala’s questioned attorney general, Consuelo Porras, comes to an end. President Bernardo Arévalo announced Tuesday night the appointment of Gabriel Estuardo García Luna as head of the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) for the period 2026-2030. “I have decided to trust Dr. García Luna, who will take office on May 17,,” said the president through his official social networks.
García Luna will now have to form his task force and define the priorities to regain citizens' confidence in a justice system that has been under constant international pressure.
