- On Tuesday, Wisconsin Appeals Court Judge Pedro Colón announced his campaign for the Wisconsin Supreme Court in 2027, seeking to replace retiring Justice Annette Ziegler.
- Colón, a former Democratic member of the Wisconsin Assembly, has served as a judge for more than 15 years after his 2010 appointment by Governor Jim Doyle to the Milwaukee County Court.
- Describing himself as an "American traditionalist," Colón told WTMJ he intends to apply the Constitution and precedent, saying "a listening ear and a fair shot" defines his judicial approach.
- Colón is the second liberal-leaning judge to enter the race, joining Clark County Judge Lyndsey Brunette; the winner will join a court with a 5-2 liberal majority when Judge Chris Taylor takes office.
- The Wisconsin Supreme Court election is scheduled for April 6, 2027; while seats are officially nonpartisan, recent races have generated significant outside political interest and spending.
