Avengers Star Anthony Mackie Says He'll Film Secret Wars When He's Done on Broadway Playing Macbeth — a Run That Lasts Until July 2027
Mackie will return to Broadway after 16 years and finish his role in Marvel’s next ensemble film after the play ends, Deadline reported.
- Actor Anthony Mackie will return to Broadway in spring 2027 to star in William Shakespeare's Macbeth, with the production running in New York until July 2027.
- Marking a return after 16 years, Mackie last appeared in Martin McDonagh's A Behanding in Spokane; director Max Webster's staging previously enjoyed a sold-out 11-week run in London.
- Prioritizing theater duties, Mackie confirmed he will resume Avengers: Secret Wars filming only after his stage run, stating, "So once I finish on Broadway, I'll go to finish up all the Avengers stuff."
- Despite fan speculation regarding production delays for the blockbuster, Marvel has made no suggestion that the project, scheduled for December 17, 2027, will be delayed.
- Shooting in 2027 allows the studio to incorporate audience feedback from Avengers: Doomsday, arriving this December 18, while Mackie balances acting with family life.
