Annual UK House Price Growth Slowed to 2 in June, Says ONS
The Central Statistics Office said Irish home price growth eased to 5.6%, the slowest annual rise since January 2024.
Irish residential property price growth slowed to 5.6% in June 2026, marking the lowest annual rise since January 2024, according to the Central Statistics Office . Across the UK, annual house price inflation eased to 2.0% in the same period.
Chairperson of Irish Mortgage Advisors Trevor Grant warned that Ireland's fundamental issue remains insufficient home construction. "Every quarter that completions fall short, that gap has a knock-on impact on prices," Grant noted.
The median price of a dwelling purchased in the 12 months to June was £396,000, with Dublin prices rising 4.6% compared to a 6.4% increase outside the capital. Revenue Commissioners recorded 4,058 dwelling purchases worth £1.82 billion in June.
UK house prices reached an average of £272,000 in June, while average monthly private rents climbed 3.7% to £1,393 in July. Associate director at L&C Mortgages David Hollingworth stated the figures "largely align with market expectations."
Financial markets continue factoring in rising interest rates to combat higher inflation, according to Hollingworth. Analysts expect autumn activity to pick up, though mortgage rates remain the key driver of buyer confidence.
