Former Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai said he rejects Periyars atheistic and anti-Brahmin ideologies while acknowledging the Dravidian stalwarts contributions to womens empowerment and caste eradication. Pointing to what he called “numerous contradictions” in Periyars history, Annamalai also reiterated that statues carrying atheistic inscriptions outside Hindu temples would be respectfully relocated if the BJP comes to power in Tamil Nadu.
