Brewers LHP Angel Zerpa to Have Tommy John Surgery
Angel Zerpa is expected to miss the rest of the season after posting a 6.39 ERA in 12 appearances for Milwaukee.
On Tuesday, the Milwaukee Brewers announced that left-handed reliever Angel Zerpa will undergo season-ending ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction surgery next Monday.
The Brewers acquired Zerpa in December, trading outfielder Isaac Collins and right-hander Nick Mears to the Kansas City Royals to bolster their bullpen.
Zerpa posted a 6.39 ERA with two saves in 12 appearances for Milwaukee, while reliever Nick Mears holds a 2.31 ERA for the Royals.
Dr. Keith Meister will perform the reconstruction surgery next week, with the team anticipating Zerpa will remain sidelined until sometime after Opening Day in 2027.
Fortunately for the Brewers, Zerpa retains two additional years of team control on his contract, positioning the organization for a brighter long-term outlook.
Relevista Angel Zerpa will undergo Tommy John surgery next Monday, which will put an end to his 2026 season in Major Leagues.
