Angel Flores has TD pass, scoring run as Central Michigan beats Akron 41-17 in MAC opener
Flores accounted for two touchdowns as Central Michigan rushed for 332 yards and handed Akron its third straight loss.
On Saturday, Central Michigan quarterback Angel Flores led the Chippewas to a 41-17 victory over Akron in a Mid-American Conference opener. Flores rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown while throwing for another score.
The Chippewas overcame an early 7-0 deficit by scoring 21 unanswered points in the second quarter. This momentum shift proved decisive in controlling the remainder of the game.
Central Michigan's ground game dominated with 332 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Jordan Gant contributed 102 yards, while Jayden Clerveaux added 82 yards on 12 carries and a 23-yard scoring run.
Backup quarterback Jadyn Glasser connected with Langston Lewis for a 71-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Akron quarterback Brayden Roggow threw for 180 yards but was intercepted three times.
Central Michigan travels to face Ohio next Saturday while Akron hosts Eastern Michigan. Both teams continue their Mid-American Conference schedules with immediate conference matchups ahead.
