Andrzej Bargiel, an outstanding Polish ski mountaineer, made history in global Himalayan mountaineering and mountain sports. He was the first person to climb Mount Everest (8,849 m above sea level) and descend from its summit on skis to base camp (5,364 m above sea level) without the use of supplemental oxygen from a bottle.
"I don't know when the last anaerobic ascent of Mount Everest at this time of year was. Even the last ascent with oxygen was about 15-20 years ago," Andrzej Bargiel, a ski mountaineer who became the first person in the world to ski down Mount Everest without the support of bottled oxygen, told "Rzeczpospolita."
