Ananta finally gets a release date, and this anime GTA is coming in 2027
Naked Rain’s trailer confirms the open-world RPG’s global launch and adds a second city as the game heads to PS5, PC and mobile.
During Gamescom Opening Night Live on Tuesday, August 25, developer Naked Rain confirmed Ananta's January 15, 2027 global launch, unveiling a new story trailer and gameplay footage.
An unverified image had surfaced on Chinese social media platform Bilibili days earlier claiming the same January 15, 2027 release date, though the leak remained unconfirmed until the official announcement.
The story centers on a supernatural investigator exploring two distinct cities—Nova City and Chongxiao's Lingyun City—with mini-games, aerial traversal, and gameplay blending anime aesthetics with Grand Theft Auto-style urban exploration.
Ananta will launch as a free-to-play title on PS5, PC, and mobile platforms with cosmetic-focused monetization, arriving months after Grand Theft Auto 6 as an alternative open-world experience.
Most players appear optimistic about the 2027 launch as NetEase reportedly invests heavily into Ananta, while CD Projekt Red delays The Witcher 4 to 2028 and skips Gamescom this year.
