After the election, there is a great risk that the bank tax that the Social Democrats campaigned on will be scrapped. This is what SEB CEO Johan Torgeby believes.
The narrow victory of the left in the Swedish elections puts the potential additional tax on banks back on investors' watchlist. OP Pohjola and Citi's calculations are based on different tax scenarios, but in both cases Nordea's impact would be relatively smaller than that of large banks focused on Sweden. A tight election result could also make it more difficult to pass the tax.
