Rockstar Games is battling an escalating series of Grand Theft Auto VI leaks, with footage from an apparent playable build appearing online ahead of the game’s major Netflix showcase. An anonymous leaker operating under the name CyberLeek has published near-daily clips reportedly showing driving, combat, aircraft and locations across the fictional state of Leonida. The latest footage depicts an in-game nudist retreat populated by uncensored characters, highlighting the level of detail and adult content expected in GTA 6. The leaker has also threatened to release story material involving co-protagonist Lucia, potentially revealing significant spoilers. CyberLeek has promoted a cryptocurrency alongside the footage and asked supporters to appear outside Rockstar or Take-Two offices dressed as leeks while carrying physical game discs. Some fans have speculated that the unusually structured releases could be an unconventional Rockstar marketing campaign. However, that theory appears highly unlikely after parent company Take-Two Interactive began legal action seeking the identities of users accused of distributing its copyrighted material. Court filings reportedly request that Microsoft-owned GitHub and messaging platform Discord provide information linked to accounts sharing the footage. Copies of the clips are also being removed through copyright claims. Rockstar has not publicly commented on the leaks, although reports suggest employees have been left frustrated and exhausted by the latest security breach. Former Rockstar North technical director Obbe Vermeij has played down the long-term consequences, arguing the situation is considerably less damaging than the notorious “Hot Coffee” controversy surrounding GTA: San Andreas in 2005. That incident resulted in an Adults Only rating in the US, games being pulled from retailers and political scrutiny. Vermeij said most future players would not actively search for leaked footage and predicted the episode would ultimately become a minor footnote in GTA 6’s history. Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto: An Extended Look presentation remains scheduled to stream on Netflix on August 27. GTA 6 is due to launch on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no PC version announced.
