Amahl Pellegrino, Anders Dreyer Propel San Diego to 3-1 Victory over Galaxy
Anders Dreyer had two assists and Amahl Pellegrino added a short-handed goal as San Diego FC stayed unbeaten at home.
San Diego FC defeated the Los Angeles Galaxy 3-1 on Saturday night, with rookie Elias Achouri staking San Diego to a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute.
Anders Dreyer provided two critical assists to maintain offensive pressure, setting up rookie defender Kieran Sargeant for his first career goal three minutes into the second half.
Tensions rose in the second half as midfielder Jeppe Tverskov was sent off in the 50th minute, and Hirving 'Chucky' Lozano scored unassisted five minutes later to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Despite playing short-handed, Amahl Pellegrino scored his third goal of the season in the 70th minute, and goalkeeper CJ dos Santos anchored the defense with seven saves.
Dreyer's performance brought his season total to 11 assists, leaving him in a three-way tie for the league lead, while the Galaxy prepare to host the New England Revolution next Saturday.
