Alleged Forgery: Court Releases International Passport Of Ex-Minister Nnaji
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ordered Uche Nnaji’s passport released for travel, while he faces a six-count ICPC case over alleged forgery and corruption.
- On Monday, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja released the international passport of former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology Uche Nnaji, permitting him to travel abroad for medical treatment.
- The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission is prosecuting Nnaji on six counts of certificate forgery, false information, abuse of office, and money laundering following an investigation into his ministerial appointment credentials.
- Specifically, the ICPC alleges Nnaji knowingly presented a forged National Youth Service Corps certificate numbered A231309 and a purported University of Nigeria, Nsukka degree certificate during documentation for his appointment.
- Nnaji pleaded not guilty to all charges and was admitted to bail in July for N20 million with a surety who must be a federal civil servant not below Grade Level 15.
- The court adjourned the case until October 26 for trial continuation, during which the prosecution plans to present three witnesses against the former minister.
