Bogotá. Colombia’s justice yesterday sentenced Simeon Peréz Marroquín, alias El Viejo, to 22 years and four months in prison for his involvement in the June 2025 murder of Senator Miguel Uribe Turbay while participating in a public event in Bogotá in his aspiration to be the right-wing presidential candidate.
“El Viejo” is sentenced to 22 years in prison for the assassination of Miguel Uribe Turbay, Colombia’s presidential candidate.
Pérez Marroquín played a key role in planning the attack, facilitating the weapon used in the crime and acting as a liaison.
After reaching an agreement with the Prosecutor's Office, Simeon Pérez Marroquín assumed responsibility for the incident recorded on 7 June 2025.
