Awe's Clutch Block Leads Alouettes Past Argonauts 37-30 in Home Opener

On Friday, the Montreal Alouettes defeated the Toronto Argonauts 37-30 in their CFL home opener, with quarterback Davis Alexander throwing two touchdowns before 21,106 fans at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium.
Toronto quarterback Chad Kelly returned from a 580-day layoff, passing for 445 yards and three touchdowns, while Alexander extended his regular-season record to 13-0.
Receiver Tyson Philpot recorded 193 yards and two touchdowns, including 136 in the first half, while linebacker Micah Awe blocked a punt by John Haggerty III to set up a decisive score.
Argonauts head coach Mike Miller debuted in the loss, dropping Toronto to 0-1, while Alouettes coach Jason Maas saw his team improve to 2-0.
The Alouettes travel to face the Edmonton Elks on Saturday, June 20, while the Argonauts visit the Ottawa Redblacks the same day.
