Albuquerque man gets prison time for threats to President Trump

Tyler Leveque pleaded guilty to violent threats on TikTok, X, and Facebook; he faces 10 months in prison plus three years supervised release, prosecutors said.

  • On Wednesday, a judge in Albuquerque sentenced Tyler Leveque, 38, to 10 months in prison for threatening President Donald Trump, the United States Attorney's Office for the District of New Mexico announced.
  • During the first days of January, Leveque posted a TikTok on Jan. 2 and threatened Trump on X on Jan. 3, court records show.
  • On Jan. 6, the U.S. Secret Service Albuquerque Resident Office and FBI Albuquerque Field Office contacted Leveque at his home and found he was in the process of purchasing a firearm from the firearm dealer.
  • He will serve three years of supervised release after prison, and prosecutors warned Leveque faces a permanent felony record and loss of firearm rights, having faced up to five years.
  • Law enforcement maintained the posts met the legal standard for true threats, not covered by the First Amendment, while the U.S. Secret Service and FBI Albuquerque Division pledged to prosecute threats against protectees and elected public officials.
