Pujols collected 3,384 hits and 703 home runs over 22 years and remains tied to the Los Angeles Angels through a 10-year personal-services contract while managing in the Dominican Winter League.
The Angels will begin the hiring process immediately, with Albert Pujols expected to interview while Perry Minasian's status remains uncertain after missing the playoffs for 11 seasons.
