Coast Guard Helicopter Crashes on a Training Mission in Alaska and Four Crew Members Are Injured
The cause is under investigation as rescue crews transported all four injured crew members to Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center.
On Monday, a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk crashed near Harbor Mountain in Sitka, Alaska, during a training flight, injuring all four crew members aboard.
Watchstanders at the Arctic District command center received reports of the crash shortly after 10:05 a.m., triggering an immediate response from Sitka Fire personnel.
Sitka Fire crews arrived around 11 a.m. and transported all four crew members to Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center; "We're a close Coast Guard family," Pam Manns said.
While the cause of the incident remains unknown, officials confirmed there were no fatalities, and the Coast Guard will conduct a formal investigation into the crash.
This incident follows a string of three major plane crashes this month, including a fatal B-52 crash at Edwards Air Force Base in California and a separate crash in Missouri.
