The results of the "Citizen Habits on Cardiovascular Health and LDL Cholesterol" research showed that, although elevated cholesterol is one of the leading risks for heart attack and stroke, more than 40 percent of respondents believe they have a body weight above the desired level, a third were diagnosed with elevated blood pressure, and one in five had elevated cholesterol.
Citizens of Serbia recognize elevated blood pressure, stress and smoking as greater risks for the heart than elevated LDL cholesterol, even though "bad" cholesterol can grow for years without any symptoms and gradually damages blood vessels.
