Following the arrest of the elected mayor Sinem Dedetaş, and the subsequent election that resulted in Üsküdar Municipality falling to the AKP, Adalar Municipality also passed to the AKP through a municipal council vote after the arrest of its elected mayor, Ali Ercan Akpolat.
