A'ja Wilson’s GOAT case grows as the Aces chase a fourth WNBA title in five years
Wilson’s leadership and record-setting honors have helped Las Vegas win three titles in four seasons and keep a fourth championship in reach.
Wilson, the WNBA's first multi-time MVP and The Associated Press Female Athlete, leads The Aces into the new season as defending champions.
After Minnesota handed the Aces a 53-point defeat last season at 14-14, Wilson texted teammates challenging them, spurring 16 consecutive victories and the WNBA Finals title.
Signed to a supermax three-year, $5 million contract, Wilson, a 6-foot-4 post player, averages 21.4 points and 9.3 rebounds over her eight-year career.
Coach Becky Hammon noted Wilson's accountability sets the standard for all players. "We're definitely going to be the hunted," Wilson said of the Aces' target.
Should the Aces win another title this year, they would join the Comets, Minnesota Lynx, and Seattle Storm as the only franchises to win four overall, matching Houston's historic record.
