AirAsia Launches First Codeshare with Turkey's Pegasus Airlines
The accreditation lets AirAsia Move sell tickets from more than 700 airlines and gives partner carriers another channel into the Philippine market.
- On Wednesday, AirAsia Group launched its first codeshare partnership with Pegasus Airlines, connecting Southeast Asian markets with Europe through the Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen hub.
- The agreement leverages Pegasus's network of 160 destinations across 56 countries, while AirAsia will increase its Kuala Lumpur-Istanbul service to daily flights by February 2027 to support the partnership.
- Separately, AirAsia Move secured International Air Transport Association accreditation, enabling the platform to sell flights from over 700 airlines to travelers in the Philippines.
- AirAsia Group Chief Executive Officer Bo Lingam said the partnership creates a "gateway for European travelers to discover Southeast Asia," making Europe more accessible to guests.
- Comparing the new strategy, chief commercial officer Amanda Woo described the Istanbul codeshare as a "different approach" versus the airline's planned Bahrain hub, remaining on track for March 2027.
