Aiden Flora accounts for 5 TDs as Iowa State outlasts West Virginia in a wild 45-42 victory
Flora ran for 212 yards and threw two scores as the Cyclones overcame a late West Virginia rally in a 1,095-yard game.
On Saturday, Iowa State defeated West Virginia 45-42, with running back Aiden Flora accounting for five touchdowns, including the go-ahead 2-yard score with 1:57 remaining.
Both teams combined for over 1,000 yards of offensive production, with Iowa State recording 577 yards and West Virginia, the Mountaineers, finishing with 518 yards in the Bowl Subdivision contest.
Flora rushed 22 times for 212 yards and three touchdowns, both career highs, while throwing two passing scores to Cody Jackson and Vince Benetti. Quarterback Jaylen Raynor added 264 passing yards.
Iowa State sealed the victory when Beni Ngoyi forced and recovered a fumble by DJ Epps with 59 seconds left, then Flora gained an 11-yard first down to end the game.
The Mountaineers, allowing 456.6 yards per game defensively, surrendered a combined 1,186 yards to Oklahoma State and Iowa State in back-to-back weeks. West Virginia hosts Arizona next Saturday.
