- Previous multilateral efforts, including three AI summits organized by Britain, South Korea and France, produced only non-binding pledges, and recruitment for a 40-expert scientific panel is expected to begin.
- On Thursday, the U.N. Security Council will hold an open debate on ensuring AI's responsible use under international law and supporting peace processes and conflict prevention.
- Ahead of the meeting, influential experts urged governments to set red lines and minimum guardrails by the end of next year to address risks like engineered pandemics and large-scale disinformation.
