Uttar Pradesh's Lokmata Ahilyabai Matrushakti Yojana now offers free bus travel. Women aged sixty and older will benefit from this new state initiative. Eligible passengers can simply show their Aadhaar or Voter ID cards. This scheme received approval during a recent state Cabinet meeting. Over one crore women are expected to gain from this program.

The scheme was among the promises made in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Sankalp Patra (manifesto) for the 2022 assembly elections, which committed free travel for women above 60 in public transport across Uttar Pradesh.
Yogi Adityanath: The free bus scheme for women, which is being implemented in Telangana, AP and Karnataka, will now be implemented in Uttar Pradesh as well. To this extent, the Uttar Pradesh cabinet approved this scheme on Tuesday.
