The first state security documents may become searchable from October 22, but the disclosure of agent files will not be complete.
The law comes into force on the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the 1956 revolution.
The decision was supported by 149 representatives, with 35 abstaining.
Seventy years after the 1956 revolution, state security files are opening up more widely: the National Assembly has adopted new regulations on agent files, which make it easier to access documents, expand the rights of relatives, and allow those under surveillance to find out who collaborated with state security.
The National Assembly has approved the new regulation of agent files.
The National Assembly has adopted the bill on the full disclosure of the secret service activities of the past regime and on the Historical Archives of the State Security Services, which ensures the disclosure of the so-called agent files. The documents will be made available in digital form by February 2027.
