Less than 40 percent of South Koreans view unification with North Korea as necessary, a poll showed Monday, with younger people far less supportive. Four out of ten citizens believe that unification is impossible, marking the highest level in the 20 years since surveys on public opinion began. Amidst hostile perceptions toward North Korea and compounded by skepticism regarding U.S. support in the event of a crisis, anxiety among citizens regarding the situation on the Korean Peninsula appears to be spreading.
It was found that only 3 out of 10 people believe that unification is necessary.
