Construction at NTPC’s 520 MW Tapovan-Vishnugad hydroelectric project in Chamoli was halted and workers evacuated after land subsidence created a small cavity in the main tunnel, causing mild water seepage. The incident occurred on August 15 in the Tapovan-Jyotirmath area, officials said, with work stopped in the affected section.
The search for missing workers continues following the THDC's Pipalkoti tunnel accident in Chamoli. Meanwhile, a tunnel at NTPC's Tapovan Vishnugad project experienced cavitation and water leakage. Workers have been evacuated.
