Three Arab parties founded by Palestinian citizens of Israel – Hadash, Taal, and Balad – have overcome disagreements over seat allocation and decided to field a joint list of candidates in the October 27 elections. Polls suggest that the Arab parties could win 15 seats in the 120-seat parliament, playing a key role in forming a government.
The three parties agreed to run together in the upcoming elections, after Ta'al chairman Ahmed Tibi withdrew his opposition to the outline proposed by the "Reconciliation Committee." The agreement is still subject to the decision of the three leaderships. According to a Maariv poll, in the event of a merger, the Joint List would reach 8 seats - and Eishar!'s would drop to 22.
