After Paper Leak Turmoil, NTA Overhauls Exam System with Four-Tier Checks
The agency will shift offices, deploy Central Industrial Security Force teams and recruit 20 to 25 more officials after recent paper leak lapses.
On Tuesday, the government announced a major overhaul of the National Testing Agency , including removal of 600 subject experts, a four-tier paper-checking process, and relocation of offices to CISF-secured premises.
The overhaul follows repeated examination lapses in UGC-NET June 2026 and the Central Bureau of Investigation's conclusion that the NEET-UG 2026 leak involved a multi-state criminal conspiracy with NTA experts allegedly passing confidential questions to candidates.
Beyond removing 600 experts, the NTA is onboarding domain specialists in cybersecurity and psychometrics while planning to induct 20 to 25 additional officials over the next three weeks to strengthen operational oversight.
Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi directed the agency to implement security protocols on a "war footing," with NTA Director General Abhishek Singh confirming that infrastructural facilities are being upgraded for smooth examination conduct.
Student groups including the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad have demanded accountability, citing "repeated lapses" that compromised academic plans, while the ministry maintains these corrective measures aim to restore examination integrity.
