The European Commission's Affordable Housing Act proposal would create the possibility of restricting short-term rental accommodation in areas facing a housing crisis. However, the draft does not envisage a general Airbnb ban: the restriction would only apply proportionately in cases of duly justified housing market problems and would primarily target short-term rental for business purposes.
