Advocates criticize bipartisan housing bill
The U.S. Senate passed the bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act to increase housing supply and lower home prices by limiting large investors' ownership to no more than 349 homes.
The bill includes a pilot program for home repair financing and raises banks' investment caps in affordable housing.
Supporters such as Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers and Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon praised the bill for aligning federal efforts to improve affordable housing.
Critics like Joel Griffith from the Advancing American Freedom Foundation argue that the bill restricts private investment and could worsen housing affordability.
