BBC Shetland Legend Confirms Exit After 13 Years and Teases 'Fitting Farewell'
The BBC drama’s 11th series will give Tosh a final storyline as the show’s audience remains among the broadcaster’s top five dramas.
After 13 years on the crime drama Shetland, Actress Alison announced her departure from the series, concluding her tenure as detective Tosh McIntosh.
Since the 2013 debut, Donnell portrayed Tosh, describing the role as the "greatest gift an actor could hope for" and allowing the character to grow in depth and maturity.
BBC Drama executive producer Gaynor Holmes stated, "Alison has been a pleasure to work with and has truly brought the character of Tosh to life," pledging a fitting farewell.
Filming for the 11th series is currently under way, with the final storyline centering on an historic murder that will change the lives of all those connected.
Based on award-winning novels by crime writer Ann Cleeves, Shetland remains the number one BBC Drama with audiences in Scotland, filmed in the Shetland Isles.
