The restriction on short-term housing rentals has brought about a noticeable change in the real estate market of District VI., as since the ban on private and other accommodation, the supply of long-term rental housing has significantly expanded, while rental prices have also decreased in Terézváros, wrote Tamás Soproni, Mayor of Terézváros, in his Facebook post.
According to the mayor, the supply of long-term rental apartments in the district has increased by 32 percent since the restriction on short-term rental apartments came into effect.
The apartment rental market is spectacularly dying down: rental prices barely increased in August, while a decrease is already visible in several districts of Budapest – and in Terézváros, the number of long-term rental apartments increased by 32 percent due to the accommodation ban, and prices also decreased.
The ban on Airbnb accommodations in Terézváros has taken a huge turn: not only has the supply of apartments for rent exploded, but rents have also started to drop noticeably. According to a survey by imatlan.com, there has been an astonishing 32 percent jump in the number of long-term apartments in Terézváros since the ban in January.
