A son of late Zimbabwe leader Mugabe is ordered deported from South Africa
The court said Mugabe must pay R600,000 after pleading guilty to firearm-related and immigration charges in a plea deal.
On Wednesday, Magistrate Renier Boshoff ordered the immediate deportation of Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe from South Africa after he pleaded guilty to brandishing an object "likely to lead a person to believe it is a firearm" and violating immigration laws.
Mugabe, 29, accepted a plea deal for charges unrelated to a separate shooting incident at his Johannesburg home in February, where a worker was shot and wounded.
His co-accused, Tobias Tampirepi Mugabe Matonhodze, pleaded guilty to attempted murder over the shooting and received a three-year prison sentence; Matonhodze will be deported to Zimbabwe after completing his time.
The worker injured in the shooting received a compensation settlement of 250,000 rand, with an additional 150,000 rand payment pending; the firearm used in the incident remains missing.
Robert Mugabe ruled Zimbabwe for 37 years before being removed in a 2017 coup and dying in Singapore two years later; his family has faced multiple criminal cases over the years.
