'A Robot Alien Screech': Mysterious Sound Raises Questions
Residents miles apart described the sound as a screech or repeated “bad boy,” while police and city officials said they received no reports.
- A strange noise echoed across Milwaukee's south side on Monday night, heard by residents near the Rockwell Automation clock tower and those more than a mile away, leaving the source a mystery.
- Walker's Point resident Brandon Kitts noticed the noise intermittently over two hours, saying "It was probably 15 minutes for one, at one interval, and then like an hour later it started happening again."
- Neighbors told WISN 12 News the noise sounded like a "robot alien screech" or a recording repeatedly saying "bad boy." Kitts, who makes music, said "I wish I could have sampled it."
- Milwaukee police and the Department of Neighborhood Services received no reports about the noise. Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic, who represents the area, also confirmed having no information regarding the occurrence.
- The Office of Emergency Management told WISN 12 News its tornado siren system is not designed to broadcast audio and was not the source. For now, the mystery remains unsolved.
