A New Sunscreen Filter Is Coming to the U.S. Next Year

After more than two decades, the FDA is poised to approve a new sunscreen filter in 2026. The ingredient, called bemotrizinol (also known as BEMT or its brand name, Parsol Shield) stays stable longer and will give better broad-spectrum protection than any filter currently approved in the U.S. Here, a cosmetic chemist explains why that's important.
