During excavations at Çatalhöyük in Konya, eight infant skeletons were unearthed next to a structure known as the "house of the dead," which contained 18 human burials. The largest skeleton was determined to belong to an infant approximately six months old.
In the Eastern Çatalhöyük Eastern Area, located in the Çumra district of Konya, where approximately 8,000 people lived together during the Neolithic period, excavations that began in previous years and are continuing have unearthed the skeletons of 8 babies, the oldest of whom was 6 months old, next to a structure called the "house of the dead".
During excavations at Çatalhöyük, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the skeletons of eight babies, the oldest being six months old, were found next to 18 buried 'houses of the dead'. Archaeologists have begun work to unravel the mystery of the final phases of the 8,000-year-old settlement.
