Bahrain's Gulf Petrochemical Industries says fire under control at units after Iran drone attack
Bahrain said the drone strikes caused fires at petrochemical and oil storage sites, and officials reported no injuries after the flames were extinguished.
On Sunday, a fire broke out at the Borouge petrochemicals plant in Ruwais, UAE, following an attack. Abu Dhabi authorities said falling debris from intercepted threats caused the blaze, halting production.
Drone strikes simultaneously targeted energy infrastructure in Kuwait and Bahrain, damaging two power plants and igniting fires at storage facilities operated by Bapco Energies and Bahraini Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company.
Renewing threats on Saturday, Trump demanded Iran open the Strait of Hormuz by Monday or face devastating consequences. Gen. Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi countered by threatening U.S. military infrastructure across the region.
Mediators from Pakistan, Turkey, and Egypt are working to broker a ceasefire, with Pakistan's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi saying efforts are "right on track" after talks were scheduled to begin soon.
