One of Clark County’s most talented craftsmen was the sculptor Joel Tanner Hart (1810-1877), who won his renown creating busts and statues of Andrew Jackson, Henry Clay, Cassius Clay and others. His most famous work, Woman Triumphant, stood in the Fayette County courthouse until destroyed by fire in 1897.
