It started the Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. It is the largest beer festival in the world and, every year, it gathers more than six million people. The estimate is that about six million litres of beer are consumed over the next two weeks.
Over the course of 16 days, until October 4, visitors will be able to enjoy beer tents, amusement rides, traditional Bavarian food and live music, and many will wear traditional costumes - dirndl and lederhosen.
