Baruch Neria was hospitalized for about two weeks at Rambam Hospital while under anesthesia and on a ventilator. Only 500 cases of infection with Naegleria paulleri have been recorded worldwide, and according to the Ministry of Health, four cases have been diagnosed in Israel since 2022.
