‘A bittersweet day:’ attendance up as annual Parksville Beach Festival ends

The exhibition drew 119,480 visitors and will support 24 not-for-profit organizations and community initiatives, the Parksville Beach Festival Society said.

  • After five-and-a-half weeks, the 2026 Parksville Beach Festival is wrapping up at Parksville Community Park, welcoming 119,480 visitors on par with last summer.
  • Throughout the summer, the festival featured performances by April Wine, the Tim Hortons Summer Concert Series, Canadian Tire Buskers, and a new family event, filling the park with music and entertainment.
  • Visitors cast more than 95,367 votes to select their favourite sculptures, choosing 'Free Hugs' by Damon Langlois and 'Finding Beauty' by Edith and Wilfred Stijger.
  • Since 1999, the Parksville Beach Festival Society has contributed more than $1.2 million to community initiatives, with this year's proceeds again supporting 24 not-for-profit organizations.
  • The world-class sculptures will soon be dismantled, but the Parksville Beach Festival Society is providing a final opportunity for visitors with visual impairments to experience the art through touch.
