9/11 25 years later: Memorial commemorates two WTC attacks
The memorial is offering exhibits, educational programs and online toolkits as 100 million Americans are too young to remember 9/11, officials said.
- As Americans prepare to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum is honoring those murdered by two terrorist attacks committed in Manhattan, the Pentagon, and Pennsylvania.
- The North Tower faced two Islamic terrorist attacks on a Tuesday, eight years apart; a 1993 van bombing killed six, followed by the 2001 hijackings that killed nearly 3,000 people.
- Those killed on 9/11 were between the ages of 2.5 and 85, hailing from 90 countries, including 1,470 in the North Tower, 695 in the South Tower, and 441 First Responders.
- The memorial site covers the World Trade Center complex, featuring two pools built in the footprint of the Twin Towers, while the Museum includes artifacts about the 1993 bombing and 9/11 exhibits.
- A quarter century later, 100 million Americans are too young to remember 9/11, so the Museum offers online programs to ensure a new generation learns the significance and enduring legacy of the loss.
