Samsung forecasts record third-quarter profit of $80 billion on the back of AI boom
On Thursday, Samsung Electronics projected a record third-quarter operating profit of 107.4 trillion won , surpassing 100 trillion won for the first time as booming demand for artificial intelligence chips drove strong memory earnings.
Surging demand for AI infrastructure has outstripped memory chip supply growth, creating tight supplies of DRAM and NAND chips expected to persist through 2027, according to Samsung's regulatory filings and company statements.
Revenue is projected to rise 127% to 195 trillion won, while Samsung continues to integrate artificial intelligence models from French startup Mistral into its semiconductor operations to expand infrastructure capabilities.
The Device Experience Division, which handles finished products including Galaxy smartphones, is expected to post an operating loss for the second consecutive quarter, contrasting with record chip business performance.
Samsung Electronics will release detailed earnings results, including a breakdown by business division, later this month, providing investors with a comprehensive financial picture following the record-breaking quarter.
