Action Lollipop Chainsaw Film Announced
On Saturday, Dragami Games announced a live-action Lollipop Chainsaw film at the Tokyo Game Show . The project is an R-rated prequel to the original action-horror game.
Dragami is expanding the franchise, a cult hit with more than 1.5 million copies sold since 2012. The studio previously released the Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP remaster in 2024.
The prequel follows protagonist Juliet Starling as she fights zombies at San Romero High School to "save her friends, protect her family." An international team produces the project.
In addition to the film, Dragami announced Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back, a sequel scheduled for release in 2027. The studio is also developing an animated series.
Producers aim to establish "a new model for building globally recognized entertainment franchises from Asia." The film is led by Nada Holdings' Joe Teng and former ZDF Studios drama boss Robert Franke.
