5 US cruise passengers arrested after an apparent brawl at Bahamas port
Police said four officers were injured and one was hospitalized after the suspects fought at the port and again during a station search.
On Monday, June 8, five Americans were arrested at the Nassau Cruise Port in the Bahamas after a physical altercation with cruise ship passengers, the Royal Bahamas Police Force said.
Authorities responded to reports of a "physical altercation involving several cruise ship passengers" at Nassau, prompting officers to intervene and detain three women and two men.
During processing at the police station, a "violent struggle" broke out between officers and suspects, leaving four officers injured, including one hospitalized with a "serious injury" to his left shoulder.
The Americans remain in police custody facing charges of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, malicious damage, and disorderly behavior at the police station, the RBPF said.
While cruise passengers received treatment for minor injuries, the RBPF confirmed investigations continue into the connection between the initial altercation at Nassau and the subsequent station melee.
