Major Milan Tepić died on this day in 1991, when during the fighting with Croatian paramilitary units he blew up the JNA barracks in Bjelovar, not wanting to hand over the warehouse with weapons to the enemy. For this act, Tepić was posthumously awarded the Order of the National Hero of Yugoslavia and was declared a national hero.
