Shooting, Separate Domestic Stabbing in Maryland Leaves 5 Injured on Cinco De Mayo
Police say the violence stemmed from two separate incidents, and investigators are searching for the shooter and the person responsible for the stabbings.
On Tuesday night, Cinco de Mayo celebrations at The Centre at Laurel in Maryland turned violent, leaving five people injured after three were shot and two others were stabbed.
Large crowds gathered at Amigos Mexican Grill before trouble began around 10 p.m., when witnesses reported a fight breaking out near the LongHorn Steakhouse parking lot where gunshots were fired.
Shon Juan Cook, 26, from Howard County has been arrested and charged for the alleged stabbings, which police described as a domestic-related dispute; an officer was also maced during the response.
The Laurel Police Department identified an alleged shooter via video footage and is asking anyone with information to contact police at 301-498-0092 or email LPDtips@laurel.md.us.
All five victims remain in stable condition, while authorities continue investigating both scenes along Baltimore Avenue to determine whether the shooting and stabbing incidents are connected.
